Which former president( s) were born on the 4th of July?

The activities kicked off with the medallion hunt beginning on Monday of this week. Horseshoes on Thursday and . . . Fireworks at Toronto Point Friday and admission to the park is FREE for the show! Saturday is packed with activities including the parade, and the fun ends Sunday after the beloved Mud Volleyball Tournament.

Many vendors will be on hand with all their goodies. I’m ready for the food trucks. There will be something for everyone so come on out and enjoy the fun.

One morning last week, I was sitting on my front porch and the open area across the street had about 20-25 crows in it. This is a common sight, but what struck me as weird was, they were quiet! They weren’t making any noise! Quiet as a church mouse, that is until something startled them and they took flight. Hello to all in area nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Hello also to all in area hospitals and rehab centers. We offer our sympathy to the family of Velma Jean Douglas. We offer our sympathy to all others who lost loved ones this past week. May they all rest in peace.

Answer: President Calvin Coolidge was born on July 4, 1872, in Plymouth Notch, Vt. Fun fact - former presidents John Adams and Thomas Jefferson both died on July 4, 1826, a few hours apart.

Many people worked hard this past week getting Main Street cleaned up. The gutters were washed, weeds and grass pulled from the sidewalks and the two old buildings on the north side of Main Street that had been tore down were all cleaned up and topsoil was brought in to fill in the hole and flowers planted.

Those two old buildings used to be Charlie Davis' insurance office and the library that was run by Eve-lyn Gleason Davis.

Anybody that helped in any way with the cleaning up of those two buildings or with cleaning Main Street need to turn their hours in to Jesse Hoag for the Toronto Pride Project. Approximately 800 hours have been submitted so far on the cleanup of the buildings.

It is important to turn in any hours you have doing community projects, as these help with grants that the city/Booster Club apply for.

A taller flag pole was set at the Legion Memorial Park.

Drink lots of water this week in preparation for Toronto Day’s.
