One Critically Injured In Pickup Versus Semi Accident

A Eureka man was critically injured on Monday, June 24, when a semi rear-ended his pickup truck at approximately 6:18 a.m., on US Highway 54, approximately seven miles west of Eureka.

A Eureka man was critically injured on Monday, June 24, when a semi rear-ended his pickup truck at approximately 6:18 a.m., on US Highway 54, approximately seven miles west of Eureka.

According to the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, Wyatt Logan, 28, of Eureka, was driving a Chevrolet Silverado and Ethan Malloy 25, of Humboldt was driving a 2003 Peterbilt Semi and three bicyclists were traveling westbound on Highway 54.Witnesses on scene indicated that Logan slowed down or stopped for the bicyclists and was struck by the semi, causing the pickup truck to travel into the south ditch. The collision also caused debris to be thrown from the Silverado striking one of the bicyclists who was identified as Bradlee Duffy 35, of Florida. Duffy was not injured.

Logan was extricated from his vehicle by the Eureka Fire Department and transported by Greenwood County EMS to Greenwood County Hospital, where he was later taken by EagleMed to a hospital in Wichita for suspected serious injuries. Malloy was treated and released on scene.
