Was it ever hot this past weekend? With temperatures high (high 90s) now in June, what’s it going to be like come August?

I prefer that it doesn’t get above 90 degrees, but I guess we just have to get used to it or you can move. Personally, I can’t imagine living anywhere but here.

What is the largest number of children born to one woman?

Hello to all in area nursing and assisted living facilities. Hello also to all in area hospitals and rehab centers.

We offer our sympathy to the family of Jimmie Walker. We offer our sympathy to all who lost loved ones this past week. May they all rest in peace.

We’ve had enough of the storms with strong winds. We don’t need anymore high winds. I’m ready to settle in to a mild weather system for the summer.

The Sandstone Market and Deli was closed all last week due to loss of power last weekend and the ruination of everything in the freezers and fridges. We hope they were able to restock and be open soon. A sign out front says they will be open this week.

Answer: The wife of Feodor Vassilyev lived from 1707 to 1782. Her name was never recorded, however, she does go down in the history books as the woman who gave birth to the most kids ever. She gave birth to a total of 69 kids in 27 pregnancies. She had 16 pairs of twins, seven pairs of triplets, and four sets of quadruplets.

Clean-up from the storm damage last weekend is still ongoing around town. We have two large brush piles in our yard and several other smaller ones. Many yards around town have wood stacked up on them.

Seems like every time I walk outside there are more limbs down. Many people around town probably think the same way. And it will be that way for awhile as I noticed, when driving around town, that many trees have broken limbs hanging down that haven’t fallen yet!

The pollinator bushes I planted earlier this year are starting to bloom. Several butterflies have found them. It’s exciting for me to see what I plant bloom and grow like these are doing. Maybe I do have a little bit of a green thumb. Nothing like Grandma Cummings had or my aunt, Trish Coon has.

Watch for fliers around town with schedules for Toronto Day’s. The medallion hunt begins next Monday!

The Toronto Senior Center was a busy place Saturday as family and friends gathered to visit with former Toronto resident Karen Davis. Her son Donald Swartz, his boys JR., Curtis and Bryce and their families; late son Cavin’s ex-wife Cathy Harber and their kids, Chad Swartz and Christina Findley and their families; his widow, Terri Swartz and her kids and their families; her stepdaughter, Debbie Davis Smith (daughter of the late Gourdhead Davis), many of Karen’s cousins and several lifetime friends.

A potluck dinner was enjoyed by all in attendance as well as lots of visiting and picture taking. I got to spend the weekend with my dad, Robert Cummings, as he has been friends with Karen since their high school days. Pictured below left is just a small part of the group that was in attendance, from left to right: Chalene and Trina Cunningham, Christina Findlay, and Chad Swartz; seated are Karen Davis and Terri Swartz.

In this heat we are having/ going to have, hydration is very important! Drink lots of water. Drinks containing electrolytes, like Gatorade and Powerade, are great but you also need water. Stay hydrated, stay cool and have fun.
