Madison Pacesetters 4-H Club

On June 5, at the Sauder Community Center in Madison, 26 members, four cloverbuds and one leader met during the Madison Pacesetters 4-H Club monthly meeting. June is one of the busiest times for the Madison Pacesetters because it is a month before the Greenwood County County Fair in Eureka.

Leader Ty Gaines shared some important dates for members during his leaders report. These dates are: June 1 Fair Entry opens, June 7 fair t-shirt orders due to extension office, June 14 Greenwood County Shooting sports entries due, June 22 Greenwood County Archery Competition, June 23 Greenwood County Shotgun Competition, June 25 Southeast Area Favorite Foods Show/ Youth Challenge Day, June 27 Southeast Area Livestock Contest and July 1 Fair Entry closes.

A big event from the month of May was the annual pop can collection contest for the Kansas Honor Flight program in Eureka. Council member Makenna Engle let the club know that of the six clubs competing, the Madison Pacesetters contributed the most cans. The club was rewarded with a pizza party following the June meeting.

For new business, the club decided that there will be pizza bought for the August meeting at the fair. During the program, Happy Birthday was sung to Tess Fankhauser. Kenyon Curry gave a parliamentary tip, reminding the club that one person can have the floor at one time. Gracelynn and Wyatt Stock demonstrated how to report a plant. Finally, Zak Knobloch shared with the club how much he enjoys the woodworking project during his project talk.
