Although I am new to the City of Eureka, I have had the opportunity to surround myself with some very knowledgeable individuals and stakeholders throughout Eureka who all have one common goal in mind and that is taking pride in making Eureka better for everyone. To me as someone who is becoming acclimated with the city for the first time, I see the different views and passions of so many throughout the community. One thing that I had hoped when I accepted my position with the city was to build a team to strive and accomplish the many goals and objectives that the residents of Eureka are want- ing to attain. At first this team was assembled by the many great staff members who represent the City on a day to day basis and also the elected officials who give their many hours of volunteerism in those late night meetings that we participate in having every two weeks.
But now I ask you to join the City of Eureka’s team. Over the next few months the City of Eureka will be embarking on many critical and crucial decisions that will impact our community for a long time.
You will be seeing me in many discussions regarding the importance of our roads and streets in moving forward in repairing the many streets in the community. We recently received a study assessment about the condition of our streets throughout the community. This assessment broke down each and every road and street in the city along with some of the shared roads we maintain with the county. This document was needed to essentially give the city a “blue- print" and plan of action to repair the very city streets you drive on everyday.
I invite you to join me at these upcoming public forums to really learn about the city's plan to fix and repair the roads we all value in the city. I wish I could fix every road in the city all at once, but the funds aren’t there to do so at this time. The first meeting I am asking you to attend is on June 19 at the city’s library at 6 p.m. Don’t worry if you can’t make it, I plan on having future informational meetings over the next few months about this very topic. I also invite you to visit the city’s website at Eurekaks.org where there is an abundance of information about the city’s streets and where you can view that assessment study.
Finally, I want to bring up an exciting slogan or "motto" that the staff and I at the city have worked together to develop. You might see a logo circulating soon that we created simply saying "VOICE".
So I ask you as someone who wants to help Eureka grow in the right direction, share your voice with me and help share your Visions On Improving the City of Eureka.
