VFW To Sponsor Fourth Of July Events

Once again, Eureka’s VFW Post 2712 has organized events to help celebrate America’s Independence Day.

Once again, Eureka’s VFW Post 2712 has organized events to help celebrate America’s Independence Day.

The annual flag raising ceremony will begin at 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 4, at the Greenwood County Courthouse. The community is encouraged to participate.

The Fourth of July parade will begin its march down Main Street in Eureka at 10:30 a.m., also on Thursday, July 4.

Children who participate in the annual parade will be served ice cream and pop at the V.F.W., located at 112 W. 2nd in Eureka, following the parade.

Motorized and mounted entries will meet at Academy and Elm Streets while walking and bicycle entries will meet at Seventh and Main Streets, all by 10 a.m. The community is encouraged to participate in the parade, too.

Additional events, including a fireworks display, are scheduled for Wednesday, July 3. Additional information will be included in a future edition.
