During the first year of Greenwood County being represented in the “Ag Challenge of Champion” contest at the state contest, a Greenwood County student finished in the top two and earned a $2,250 scholarship.

Perrier won his opportunity to represent Greenwood County 4-H at the state level by winning the Challenge of Champions competition at the County Fair in July. The contest consists of several written tests, a livestock skillathon, tractor parts ID and a five minute, impromptu presentation on a provided ag subject.

This competition is hosted by the Kansas Fairs and Festivals Association in partnership with the Kansas State Fair.

Also earning a scholarship was Jacob Lehman of Shawnee County.

The top two individuals will receive a one-time award of $250 each once they have provided proof of enrollment in an institution of higher learning to the Executive Director, Kansas Fairs & Festivals Association. They will then be awarded a check for $500 for the next four semesters provided they meet the requirements listed above.
