Minnie Jo Northedge

Minnie Jo Northedge of Eureka, died on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, at the age of 85. She was born on March 10, 1939, in Chautauqua County, the daughter of Joseph Isaac and Minnie Belle (Tannahill) Dye. She was raised in Sedan and graduated from Sedan High School with the Class of 1957. On August 16, 1960, Minnie Jo was united in marriage to Kenneth Allen Northedge in Eureka. They made their home in Eureka. Minnie Jo was a nurse’s aide for Greenwood County Hospital for over thirty years.

Minnie Jo loved to cook, and her kitchen was a haven of delicious aromas, where she crafted meals that nourished not only the body but also the soul. Her infectious laugh, a hallmark of her personality, filled every room she entered, creating a lasting memory for everyone who knew her. Despite her preference for familiar surroundings, Minnie Jo lived a life brimming with happiness. She cherished the simple pleasures and found joy in the company of loved ones. Her legacy is one of warmth, kindness, and a love for creating a space where laughter echoed through the walls.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; and host of nephews, nieces, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and all eight siblings: Russel Eugene Dye, Virgil Magruder Dye, Delbert Martin Dye, Blossom Izora Weaver, Betty Fern Tate, Clara Belle Wallace, Mary Ellen Alford, and Barbara Ann Lile.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka with Pastor John Craighead officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Greenwood County Hospital Foundation.
