Daughters Of The American Revolution Held May Meeting

The Susannah French Putney Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) held their monthly meeting May 17, at the Butler County Historical Society (BCHS) in El Dorado.

The Susannah French Putney Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) held their monthly meeting May 17, at the Butler County Historical Society (BCHS) in El Dorado.

Future member Kim Ring was welcomed.

Time was spent making plans for upcoming patriotic and community events throughout the summer. DAR information booths and fundraising opportunities were discussed.

Regent Teresa Bachman presented the following awards: SFP Certificate of Appreciation for Outstanding Achievement: Celebration of Freedom Committee: Nancy Gordon, Registrar-Sparkle Award for 4 or more new members: Jean Groendes (received a Sparkle pin from KSDAR), Constitution Week: Marsha Todd and Quilt Show honoring Sandy Heyman: Sharon Mc-Clure; Kansas Chapter of the National Society of the DAR to the SFP Chapter for Outstanding Achievement: Accomplishing the NSDAR “Spread the Sparkle” Challenge, 4 or more new members in 2024; National Society of the DAR to SFP for Outstanding Achievement: 2023 Best Membership Recruitment Activity (chapters w/51 to 100 members) Tea at Robin’s, DAR Library Outreach Committee, Exceeding Service to America Goal with 2,422.25 hours, Dedication in Conservation, DAR Good Citizens, 100% participation in the President General’s Project; NSDAR for Outstanding Achievement:

Americanism Program Presentation about Edwin R. Bleckley, WWI Hero: Deborah Keplar; Membership: St Patrick’s Day Chapter Meeting, special outfits: Teresa Bachman, Kay Catlin, McClure and Todd and State Conference Delegates that received Sparkle pins: Carla Cook, Gordon, Sue Flowers, Mc-Clure, Sheryl Moody, Todd and Nita Whiteman.

The annual Memorial Service was conducted by McClure and Chaplain Ann Wimberly. Five women were remembered. They were Pamela Cowley, Norma Mathews, Martha McKay, Rosemarie Richard and Faye Walters.

The next meeting will be held in El Dorado on September 20 at 1 p.m. at the Butler County Historical Society in El Dorado. Visitors are welcome.
