Babson Scholars For 2024 Honored During Special Breakfast

One HHS and Nine EHS Seniors Selected As Babson Recipients

The Babson Midwest Memorial Foundation named nine Eureka High School (EJSHS) class of 2024 members and one Hamilton High School (HHS) class of 2024 member as the “Babson Scholars.”

The recipients will receive $3,750 a year for four years, if attending a four-year college or university and $2,500 a year if attending a junior college, changing to $3,750 a year if the junior college graduates advance to a fouryear college or university. The scholarships are renewable for four years of study, for a total of $30,000.

Troy Richardson is serving as president of the Foundation, with Linda Hendrickson as vice-president, Tammi Burtin as the secretary, Steven Spore as the treasurer and Deb Burtin as corporate secretary. Other board of trustees include: Karen Engle, Irlene Huntington, Keith Ball, Dr. Michael McClintick, and Diltz Lindamood.

The Foundation was founded on June 19, 1970, with the first scholarship awarded in 1971. The recipients this year are members of the 54th class.

Earnings from investments provide the funds for scholarships awarded annually to graduates of high schools in Greenwood County. Over 500 students have been named Babson Scholars, with over $1,500,000 given in scholarships for higher education.
