The Eureka Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) chapter held their first ever Celebration Banquet on May 8. It was an evening of food, fellowship, cele-brations, competitions and powerful stories. FCA president Kimber Ptacek kicked the evening off with a welcome and the reading of the Competitor’s Creed.
Cole Adkins introduced and recognized special guests from Neal Evangelical Free Church, United Methodist Church, Christ Lutheran Church and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. These churches provided delicious, warm breakfasts for the FCA huddles every Friday morning, during the school year.
The guest speaker for the evening was Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year, Jadyn Wooten from Blue Valley High School. Wooten shared her inspiring testimony of struggles and overcoming obstacles through the overwhelming power of Jesus Christ, emphasizing that God blesses us with struggles and that you are never too far from the Savior.
A competition was held between the FCA senior class and members from the churches. The seniors won in a close battle.
A year-in-review video by Britta Mongeau was shared before senior members, Dayne Gulick, Lyle Perrier, Cole Adkins and Lyndsey Escareno were celebrated and recognized. Sponsors, Coach Shelly Hoyt and Kristy Zimmers, wrapped up the event by recognizing the student athletes, participation throughout the year.
FCA’s vision is, “Know Jesus, to see the world transformed by Jesus, and to make Jesus known through the influence of coaches and athletes. With our platform we promote the ultimate team in Heaven.”
