Rockin’ Robin!

What an amazing village we have. I am blessed to be a part of the Eureka community and again witnessed great things on Friday, during the annual Senior Day assembly. Community members gathered and, through the generous donations of many, provided approximately $342,000 to the Class of 2024. This doesn’t include scholarships provided by colleges or other scholarships gifted outside the community assembly. To mask on the greatness of our community some more, I attended another school’s graduation over the weekend where they announced that the 261 students graduating received $23,000 in scholarships. Our Senior Day assembly continues to grow and our youth are solely the beneficiaries.

As they should be. Our youth are our future and this is proof that the community is invested and supportive of the youngsters that venture through the walls of our area school districts. To the members of the class of 2024, go out and spread your wings. Learn new things. Then, hopefully, return to Greenwood County and share the wealth with the community. I can promise we would be glad for you to return and share your gifts with us.

As a reminder, there is always someone looking to you for possible guidance/direction. Our society has changed drastically over the years; yet, I know there are still many who want to instill and demonstrate respect and kindness. That can simply be standing for graduates during the processional/ recessional, opening a door for a stranger or acknowledging that events are far bigger than one individual.
