Eureka Softball Fell To Wildcats Of Yates Center

Despite collecting 17 hits and 16 runs against the Wildcats of Yates Center last Thursday, May 2, the Tornado softball team fell to Yates Center, 7-18 and 9-11.

Despite collecting 17 hits and 16 runs against the Wildcats of Yates Center last Thursday, May 2, the Tornado softball team fell to Yates Center, 7-18 and 9-11.

In game one, Eureka collected 11 hits, with hits from Keira Crisswell, 4; Trinity Samuels, 2; and Raylee Boles, Ellianna Coulter, Elyssa Wood, Miley Baumgartel and Taryn Burk all with 1. The hot bats helped the Tornadoes score 7 runs with Crisswell, Samuels and Baumgartel all scoring twice and Madelyn Miller crossing the plate once.

In game two, the Lady Tornadoes tallied six hits and nine runs. Recording hits for Eureka were Crisswell, 2 and Lizzy Foth, Ellianna Coulter, Samuels and Wood all with 1. Crossing the plate were Coulter x3, Wood and Boles x2 and Crisswell and Miller 1.

The Tornadoes were scheduled to host Fredonia on Monday of this week; however, the game was canceled due to forecasted weather/field conditions.

The Lady Tornado softball team will compete at the 2-1A Lyndon Regional on May 13-14. Teams competing at the regional include: Cottonwood Falls-Chase County, Eureka, Lebo/Waverly, Lyndon, Melvern-Marais Des Cygnes Valley, Richmond- Central Heights, Rosalia-Flinthills, Southern Lyon County and Yates Center. The winner will advance to the 2-1A State Tournament at Green Sports Complex, in Pratt, May 23-24.
