After suffering a knee injury at the end of this basketball season, Andover High School Senior Blake Rucker was unsure of his future in basketball, but knew he wasn’t finished yet. Last Week, B. Rucker signed a letter of intent to play basketball for the Barton Community College (BCC) Cougars, in Great Bend.
“After my ACL injury, I knew I was in a very tough spot. I knew the coaches and staff at Barton would help me get back to where I was and also help me get to the next level. Barton also has a great culture which I knew would be inviting,” stated B. Rucker.
He will have a medical red shirt next year, where he hopes to build and grow for his first season of collegiate play. “I am excited to be able to play after my medical red shirt season, and I look forward to growing as a player at Barton,” B. Rucker stated.
After his time at BCC, he hopes to transfer to a four-year school and continue his basketball career and obtain degrees in Sports Management and Business.
When asked what he loves most about the sport, he stated, “Basketball has brought me so much joy since I was young. I got to grow up playing with my older brother, his friends and my dad. It has taken me all over the country and introduced me to many new things and friends.”
