In less than two weeks, spring sports will begin postseason action and two regional events will be hosted in Eureka, bringing several athletes and fans to the community.
Baseball
To begin postseason action, Eureka and West Elk baseball will compete in area regionals.
Eureka Baseball
The Eureka Tornadoes will compete in the 2-1A Rosalia-Flinthills Regionals, which will be held May 8-16. Schools competing in the 2-1A Regional include: Canton-Galva/ McPherson Elyria, Cottonwood Falls-Chase County, Eureka, Marion, Moundridge, Rosalia- Flinthills, Sedgwick, Whitewater-Remington and Wichita-The Independent. The winner will advance to 2-1A State, May 23-24, at the Great Bend Sports Complex.
West Elk Baseball
The West Elk Patriots will compete at the 2-1A Sedan Regionals, May 8-13. Schools competing in the 2-1A Regional include: Belle Plaine, Burden- Central, Cedar Vale/ Dexter, Howard-West Elk, Medicine Lodge, Oxford, Sedan, South Sumner and Udall. The winner will advance to 2-1A State, May 23-24, at the Great Bend Sports Complex.
Golf
Eureka Golf
The Eureka Tornado golf team will be hosting 2A Regionals at the Eureka Country Club on Monday, May 13. Tee times are slated to begin at 9 a.m. Teams competing at the Eureka Regional include: Elbing-Berean Academy, Erie, Eureka, Hillsboro, Mound City-Jayhawk Linn, Pittsburg-St. Mary’s Colgan, Sedan, Uniontown, Whitewater-Remington and Wichita-The Independent.
The top three teams at each regional (four regional tournaments) and the top five lowest individual scores that are not members of a qualifying team will qualify for the state tournament. Class 2A State will be held at Mariah Hills Golf Course, in Dodge City on May 20-21.
Hamilton & Madison Golf
In their first season, the Hamilton Tigers and Madison Bulldogs will travel to Wedgewood Golf Course in Halstead on Monday, May 13, for the 1A Central Christian Regional. Teams competing at the regional include: Burrton, Canton- Galva, Goessel, Hamilton, Hutchinson-Central Christian, Kinsley, Madison, Olpe, Pretty Prairie, Rozel-Pawnee Heights and St. John-Hudson.

Softball

The winner will advance to the 2-1A State Tournament at Green Sports Complex, in Pratt, May 23-24.
West Elk Softball
The Patriot softball team will compete in the 2-1A Dexter Regional on May 13-14. Teams competing at the regional include: Belle Plaine, Burden-Central, Dexter/ Cedar Vale, Howard-West Elk, Oxford, Sedan, South Sumner, Udall and Wichita The Independent. The winner will advance to the 2-1A State Tournament at Green Sports Complex, in Pratt, May 23-24.
Track & Field Eureka Track & Field
The Tornado track & field team will host a 2A Regional on Thursday, May 16, with field events beginning at 2 p.m. and prelims slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. Finals will begin 30 minutes after prelims conclude. Teams competing at the Eureka Regional include: Belle Plaine, Conway Springs, Elbing- Berean Academy, Eureka, Garden Plain, Herington, Hillsboro, Hutchinson-Trinity Catholic, Inman, Marion, Moundridge, Sedgwick, Sterling, Whitewater-Remington, Wichita-Classical School Of Wichita and Wichita- The Independent. The top four in each contest will advance to the 2A State Meet at Wichita State University, May 2425. West Elk Track & Field The West Elk Patriots will travel to Erie on Friday, May 17 for their 2A Regional meet. Field events are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and prelims slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. Finals will begin 5:30 p.m. Teams competing at the regional include: Arma-Northeast, Cherokee- Southeast, Cottonwood Falls-Chase County, Erie, Eskridge-Mission Valley, Howard-West Elk, Lyndon, Mound City-Jayhawk Linn, Oxford, Pittsburg- St. Mary’s Colgan, Pleasanton, Prairie Village- Kansas City Christian, Richmond-Central Heights, Sedan, Shawnee- Maranatha Christian Academy and Uniontown.
The top four in each contest will advance to the 2A State Meet at Wichita State University, May 2425.
Hamilton and Madison Track & Field
Members of the Hamilton and Madison Track & Field team will compete in the 1A Waverly Regional on May 17. Field events are slated to begin at 3 p.m., with prelims starting at 4:30 p.m. Finals will follow at 6 p.m. Teams competing at the regional include: Allen- Northern Heights, Buffalo- Altoona Midway, Burden- Central, Burlingame, Cedar Vale, Chetopa, Colony- Crest, Dexter, Goessel, Hamilton, Hartford, Hope, Lawrence-Bishop Seabury Academy, Lebo, Leroy- Southern Coffey County, Longton-Elk Valley, Lost Springs-Centre, Madison, Melvern-Marais Des Cygnes Valley, Moran-Marmaton Valley, Olpe, Oswego, Peabody-Burns, Rosalia- Flinthills, St. Paul, Waverly, White City, Wichita-Central Christian Academy and Yates Center. The top four in each contest will advance to the 2A State Meet at Wichita State University, May 24-25.
