The first meeting of the Marshall Elementary PTA was called to order on Tuesday, September 5, at 5:30 p.m. at Marshall Elementary by President Beth Whitehead. In attendance were six teachers including Principal Stacy Coulter and six parents, with two of those being current officers.

There were no previous meeting minutes to be read as this was the first official meeting of the school year.

Whitehead gave the President’s report where the main focus was the upcoming fundraiser for the school. Marshall PTA will be going a new route with their annual fundraiser and have decided to bring back the Tornado cards.

Students will have order forms starting September 18 and will be selling the cards until October 9. The Tornado cards will be sold for $20 each as a fundraiser for Marshall PTA. The PTA is accepting monetary donations, as well. Cards will be good for one-year from the time cards are distributed. Tornado cards will be handed out during Parent-Teacher conferences and then the student will be distributing them to the buyers. The money raised from this fundraiser will help purchase Marshall T-shirts for each student, additional bulletin boards for the teacher’s hallways, and continued funding for additional grants throughout the school year. The reward party for the fundraiser will be November 17. A motion was made by Kelsey Meza and seconded by Vicki Herb to have the Tornado Cards printed by The Eureka Herald.

Whitehead reported the treasurer’s report and current financials discussed. The 2023-2024 PTA budget was approved after a motion was made by Mica Coulter and seconded by LeAnne Winn.

Committee reports were discussed with committee sign-ups for the new school year.

New business included electing a new Vice President. Motion was made by Winn to nominate Heidi Boone with motion seconded by M. Coulter. The 20232024 schedule was approved. A date for Christmas on Main Street was decided on and will be November 29. A date for the Spring Fling Dance was also discussed and will be April 13, 2024.

The next meeting of the Marshall Elementary PTA will be held on November 7, at 5:30 p.m. at Marshall Elementary. The meeting was adjourned by Whitehead at 6:03 p.m.
