Koop Competed At Nationals

West Elk junior Creyo Koop traveled to Virginia Beach, Va. last week for the NHSCA High School National wrestling tournament.

West Elk junior Creyo Koop traveled to Virginia Beach, Va. last week for the NHSCA High School National wrestling tournament.

Koop went 1-2 at the tournament, in the 160-pound weight class. In his second match of the tournament, Koop faced Brady Collins of Clearfield, Pa., who went on to be named the National Runner- Up. Moving to the backside of the bracket, Koop faced Gavin Cole of Langhorne, Pa., who went on to place eighth at the national tournament.

Koop won his first match over K. Wilson of New Jersey by medical forfeit.

Koop is a three-time state placer and won the state championship at the 3-1A State tournament in the 165-pound class this year.

Koop is the son of Chad and Marty Koop of Howard.
