Madison City Council Held Meeting

During the meeting, several citizens made requests. Daryl Hudson asked for a regular rolloff to be available to residents. Jason McClelland asked for a common consumption license for Harry C’s during the senior cruise night to include the courtyard as well as in front of his building. Marcie Harrison asked for two additional polycarts to be placed downtown during the senior cruise night on Sunday, April 14. Hudson also asked to be allowed a trailer on his property while his home is under construction. The council approved all requests.

In other business, the council reviewed citations for violations at 615 W. Boone, 309 N. 5th Street and 423 S. 3rd Street. City Clerk Alice Grimm advised the council that the previous occupant/owner of 719 Lincoln Street notified her that they no longer live there and the dog has been removed. Mayor Paul Dean suggested and the council approved having this matter forwarded to city court to be remedied.

The council also conweek tinued the discussion of having a disc golf course installed at Madison City Lake. Dean stated that he would like it to be tournament worthy. Grimm will get with Dynamic Discs of Emporia to get more information on what is possible at the city lake.

During the city maintenance report, council member Tony Fankhauser advised the council that he had recently spoken with Earl Murphy concerning the dam project and is in the process of contacting several businesses for additional estimates on the project. Fankhauser also gave an update on concrete work that included the generator pad, the batting cages at the ballfield on the hill and the manhole cover on Boone Street.

The council went into executive session for personnel. After the session, Dean asked Grimm to look into finding someone to serve as the city’s animal control officer.

Dean advised the council that a special meeting will need to be held to review and continue the city’s Neighborhood Revitalization Plan.

The next regular meeting will be April 15, at 7 p.m.
