The March 27 Madison Recreation Commission (MRC) meeting was called to order by President Ty Gaines, with Dylan Barnard, Jason Albert, Paul Dean, Dallas Thompson and Abby Larkin present. Members of the public present were Tony Haag and Brittany Barnard.
B. Barnard requested the board establish a time frame to start spring basketball and what age ranges shall be included. The board’s consensus was that the K-4th grade Skillz and Drillz Camp would be held on Mondays in May including the 6, 13, 20 and 27. Additionally, it was determined that the cost per participant would be $25 which will include the cost of a camp t-shirt.
Treasurer’s report: A general discussion regarding the current budget was held. Due to the recent change at the treasurer’s position the board will gather more information regarding the year-to-date expenditures to ensure that the MRC is budget and cash compliant.
The Minutes from the Feb. 21, Jan. 24 and Dec. 21, 2023 meetings were approved.
Director Report by Larkin: A discussion regarding the summer baseball/softball programs and how to establish the practice schedule. The Director presented a plan to designate specific fields for each age group and hold a coaches’ meeting to try and work out an acceptable schedule. Haag gave an update on the Hill Baseball Field improvements.
