Greenwood County Represented At State Spelling Bee

Greenwood County was represented at the Sunflower State Spelling Bee, held on March 23, by Eureka Junior Senior High School’s Sadie Seiter.

Greenwood County was represented at the Sunflower State Spelling Bee, held on March 23, by Eureka Junior Senior High School’s Sadie Seiter.

Seiter went 28 rounds in the USD 389 District Spelling Bee to claim first, and punch her ticket to the County Spelling Bee. She later qualified for the State Bee after claiming her second consecutive county bee title.

Seiter got out in the fifth round of state, tying for 6th.

An eighth-grader at EJSHS, Seiter is the daughter of Staci and XX Seiter of Eureka.

First place in the annual event went to Butler County’s Carey Chesire, who claimed the state title after 16 rounds. Chesire, an eighth-grader at Andover Middle School, will represent the State of Kansas at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C. later this spring.
