Greenwood County Fair Association Board Of Directors Meeting

– submitted by Stacy Randle, secretary The Greenwood County Fair Association (GCFA) Board of Directors meeting was held on Feb. 6, immediately following the annual Stockholders meeting. Directors present included: President Dr. Kailey Fitzmorris, Vice President Justin Branine, Secretary Stacy Randle, Treasurer Tom Perrier, Jamie Nelson, Dr. Harold Garner, Craig Miller and Linda Snyder. Director Garry Edmondson was absent.

Randle read the minutes of the 2023 board of directors meeting. Perrier moved to approve. Nelson seconded. Motion carried.

Snyder moved to approve the treasurer’s report. Nelson seconded. Motion carried.

Elections of officers were held. Snyder made a motion to keep existing officers. Nelson seconded. Motion carried.

The board will wait and see if the live horse racing bill passes the house before proceeding with the removal of the S Barn. The board will ask if there is still interest in the barn.

Nelson stated the dates of the fair were to run from July 26 - July 29. Perrier moved to accept. Snyder seconded. Motion carried.

The GCFA has leased the concourse building to the City of Eureka for seven years with a right to renew. The board will work with the Greenwood County Community Center about installing flagpoles by Memorial Day.

If the live horse racing bill passes, in Topeka, the Kansas Quarter Horse Racing Association and other parties are interested inmanagingEurekaDowns. If this occurs the board will have to get an attorney and listen to all applicants.

Next year, the board will put a regular meeting advertisement in the paper instead of a legal notice for the annual meeting. The board feels this advertisement will be easier to see.

Nelson moved to adjourn. Snyder seconded. Motion carried.
