Daughters Of The American Revolution -

The Susannah French Putney Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held their monthly meeting on March 15, at the United Method-ist Church in Eureka. The Women of Faith served the members a delicious lunch.

The Susannah French Putney Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held their monthly meeting on March 15, at the United Method-ist Church in Eureka. The Women of Faith served the members a delicious lunch.

The program, “From Pasture to Plate” was presented by Sara Shivers of Salt Creek Farms in Eureka which is a third-generation family farm in the Flint Hills of Kansas. Shivers, along with help from family members, manages the family ranch that markets high-quality beef, lamb, chicken and honey. Much of her presentation provided information about what a local food system is, why it is important and all the ways it positively impacts a local community.

Salt Creek Farms currently sells beef and other products to numerous high-end restaurants in the Kansas City area, as well as several in Wichita and Emporia. They ship nationally and internationally. They have a storefront, located at 118 N. Main Street, in Eureka and have a website, www. TheSaltCreekFarm.com Members in attendance included Teresa Bachman, Sue Ann Brown, Faith Butler, Carla Cook, Sigrid Denchfield, Sue Flowers, Patty Goedecke, Janet Green, Jean Groendes, Loria Howard, Susan King, Sharon McClure, Sheryl Moody, Rise Russin, Jacqueline Seeley, Marilyn Seymour, Nita Whiteman and Ann Wimberly.

The next meeting will be held in El Dorado on April 19, at 1 p.m. at the Butler County Historical Society. Visitors are welcome.
