Eureka Tornado Golf Began Season At Caney

Eureka varsity golf kicked off their season on Monday, March 25 with a cool and breezy 18-hole tournament in Caney.

Neodesha’s Kyle Eggers claimed first place honors with a 78 (39-39). The team title was claimed by Pittsburg who had a four-person score of 364.

Representing Eureka were Cole Adkins 104 (5153), Wylee Boulanger 112 (58-54), Mason Hughes 113 (56-57), Colby Altis 127 (6364) and Hagen Hughes who was disqualified from the tournament. As a team, Eureka finished in sixth place. Both the varsity and junior varsity teams competed on Thursday, March 28. Varsity traveled to the Emporia Municipal Tournament for an 18-hole tournament, hosted by Olpe. As a team, the Tornadoes finished in 10th place with a team score of 416. Silver Lake won the team title with a four-person score of 329. Bryce Badskey of Silver Lake and Drew Buchman of Council Grove tied for individual top honors with an even score of 71.

Representing Eureka were Cole Adkins, 93 (4647); Jace Nixon, 105 (5550); Wylee Boulanger, 108 (55-53); and Mason Hughes, 110 (53-57).

JV went to Sedan for a 9-hole round. Tornado senior Lyle Perrier led the way with a 49, and placed third as an individual. Also representing the Tornadoes were Easton Mead, 62; John Noll, 66 and Jonah Werner, 70. As a team, the Tornadoes finished in fifth place.

Eureka JV traveled to Prarie Ridge on Monday and will travel to Uniontown on Thursday of this week, before varsity resumes action in Erie on April 8. Eureka will host their varsity tournament on Wednesday, April 10, beginning at 1 pm.
