Community And District Working To Bring Greenhouse To Hamilton School District

Preparation work was recently completed for the Hamilton USD 390 Greenhouse project and efforts have now turned towards framing of the structure.

Builders began marking the ground for the 30x48 foot greenhouse in November. Following delivery by Stuppy Greenhouses, USD 390 officially broke ground on the project at the first of the year.

Kurt Seiter, along with Kevin Seiter, Jared Baylor and Seth Jardot, is aiding the district through the construction. Community patrons who have also provided aid/support include: Brance Boone, Clint Ballard, Zevi Ashlock, Russell McCoy, Mike Malleck and Travis Nutsch.

The Rainbow Plus model greenhouse will have a shade system which will help conserve energy and reduce heat loss. This is a fully automized greenhouse which will feature self-watering and self-fertilizing technology.

The construction of the greenhouse will expand agriculture centered educational opportunities for Hamilton students grades Pre-K through 12.

Students have begun preparing plant starts for the greenhouse.

Funds for greenhouse construction were raised through grants and plant sales. Hamilton FFA is currently holding their annual Spring Plant Sale. Purchases can be made by visiting the Hamilton FFA Facebook page. Fill out and submit your purchase form to the school or by emailing it to Ag instructor Natalie Boone, [email protected]. A Venmo payment option is now available. All proceeds from plant sales go towards the greenhouse and upkeep/ expansion of Agriculture facilities. (Courtesy photo)
