The show weaves together four classic tales – “Cinderella,” “Little Red Riding Hood,” “Rapunzel” and “Jack and the Beanstalk” - with some of the most heartfelt and moving music ever written. Stephen Sondheim’s now classic musical “Into the Woods” will be presented by Sterling College Theatre on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, April 14 at 2 p.m. in Culbertson Auditorium.

In this play, the four classic stories are blended with a new tale about a baker and his wife who find they have been cursed by the witch next door and are unable to have a child of their own. Their quest to break the curse takes the couple “into the woods” where they meet the other characters. Sondheim’s music written for the show include “No One Is Alone,” “Children Will Listen” and “Giants in the Sky.”

The production is being directed by Marisa Callan, Assistant Music Professor and Director of Music Theatre at Sterling College. Student Noah Svaty is designing the set and lighting for the show and Rachel Thomson is choreographing the show.

Tickets for “Into the Woods” are available online at www.sterling.edu/arts or at the door before each performance.
