For 21 years, Mandy (Massey) Gibson has been serving as a pharmacist at Auburn Pharmacy in Osage City and just last month was able to add another distinction to her name as she was named by the Kansas Pharmacy Association Board of Directors as this year’s “Pharmacist of the Year.”

Gibson, a 1996 graduate of Eureka Junior/Senior High School, attended Emporia State University for two years before transferring to the University of Kansas where she graduated from the KU School of Pharmacy in 2002. Since then, she has served the Osage City community. Gibson also strives to be involved with the community. She holds immunization clinics, is a volunteer firefighter with Miller Fire Department and has served as a Lyon County 4-H volunteer for many years.

Gibson, the daughter of Greg and Janice Massey of rural Eureka and the granddaughter of Marilyn Massey and the late Calvin Massey and Leon Richardson and the late Orella Richardson, all of Eureka, resides with her husband Jason near Admire, in Northern Lyon County, where they operate Gibson Cattle Company. The Gibson’s have one son, Mason, who is a freshman at Fort Scott Community College.

Mandy Gibson was awarded the Pharmacist of the Year award on August 26, in Lawrence, during the annual Awards Gala.
