The Tornadoes fought hard in their 2023 debut, their passion and effort was on full display but came up short, 8-12, to Cherryvale.

The first half was all Tornadoes, the defense forced 2 turnovers on downs, 1 punt and a safety.

The offense struggled to find their rhythm all night but showed flashes of a team that can create big plays. Wylee Boulanger scored the lone Touchdown for the Tornadoes on a 5-yard run set up by a nice run by Peyton Hare.

The defense was spearheaded by Cayden Wesley and Kalim Mouer who made their presence constantly felt. Gauge Lopez was another defensive standout on the night flying around the field and recovering a fumble in the second half.

While the team competed to the end they fell short. The Tornadoes will look forward to Neodesha next week looking to respond. Kick-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
