Eight Elk County Wrestling (ECW) Cobras made the trip to Topeka over the weekend for the USAWKS 2024 State Folkstyle Championship and one ECW member claimed hardware.
Lady Cobra Emma Baumgartel went 4-2 at the tournament and claimed a fourth place finish.
Following are the individual match wins for ECW participants: HS Girls 125: Kayla Wright won by fall over Reese Vehige (Hays) (Fall 3:44); lost by fall to Brooklyn Burenheide (Rock Creek) (Fall 2:25); and lost a 0-7 decision to Hanna Bailey (Girard Matside Wrestling Academy).
10U Girls 100: Pyper Ford won by fall over Breanna Lopez (Chapman) (Fall 1:35); and won an 8-0 major decision over Annalis Vaca (Cougar Kids Wrestling Club).
10U Boys 130: Kyler Wunderlich won by fall over Corbin Clearwater (Linn County Twisters Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:12); and won a 5-0 decision over Parker Williams (Wamego).
12U Girls 95: Emma Baumgartel placed 4th. She won by fall over Ezmeralda Lopez (Junction City) (Fall 3:59); won by fall over Illeana Toney (Trailblazer Wrestling Club) (Fall 2:05); won a 10-0 major decision over Rheamy Rierson (MAC); and won a 7-2 decision in tie breaker - 1 over Aliyah Tangpricha (WR-Topeka Blue Thunder).
Also participating for ECW was: Hendrix Ellsbury, 8U Girls 45; Autumn Love, 10U Girls 70; Lakin Love, 12U Girls 95; and Haylee Knight, 12U Girls 130.
