To Compete At State Contest

Six Eureka Wrestling Club (EWC) members will represent Eureka at the State contest next weekend, in Topeka, as they placed in the top four in their weight classes at the District 2 qualifying tournament.

Six Eureka Wrestling Club (EWC) members will represent Eureka at the State contest next weekend, in Topeka, as they placed in the top four in their weight classes at the District 2 qualifying tournament.

Brynlee Ashlock placed 2nd, Tate Scott and Lakyn McCoy placed 3rd and Mason Hughes, Maela Neill and Harlie Owings all placed 4th. They are pictured above from left to right: front row, Ashlock, McCoy, and Scott; back row: Hughes, Owings and Neill.

Following are the individual match wins for EWC participants: 8U Girls 80: Elena McCoy won by fall over Brynleigh Shultz (Humboldt) (Fall 0:37) 10U Girls 60: Brynlee Ashlock placed 2nd. She won a 15-0 tech fall over Lyla Spangler (Maize); and a 6-1 decision over Rosalie Landrum (El Dorado).

12U Girls 140: Lakyn McCoy placed 3rd. She won by fall over Mariyah Henderson (Ark City) (Fall 0:35); won by fall over Stella Sigler (Bluestem) (Fall 1:55); and won by fall over Mariyah Henderson (Ark City) (Fall 0:54).

12U 76: Brandon Cornett placed 5th. He won by fall over Miles King (Kansas Young Guns) (Fall 2:12); and won by injury default over Jace Tyler Manning (Valley Center).

12U 115: Tate Scott placed 3rd. He won by fall over Lilo Hartfield (Team of Hard Knox) (Fall 2:34); won by fall over Barrett Alonzo (Chanute) (Fall 1:26); and won by fall over Lilo Hartfield (Team of Hard Knox) (Fall 1:55).

High School Girls 125: Maela Neill placed 4th.

She won by forfeit over Aubrey Winegarner (Wichita Blue Knights).

High School Girls 170: Harlie Owings placed 4th. She won by fall over Claire Compton (Andover) (Fall 3:30).

High School 100: Mason Hughes placed 4th. He won by fall over Braxten Lickly (Maize) (Fall 2:24); and won by no contest over Braxten Lickly (Maize).

Also competing for EWC were Adleigh Ray, 12U Girls 105; Xander Turner, 12U 88; Felix Neill, 12U 115; Cort Decker, 14U 205.
