With the pool season fast approaching, the Eureka Recreation Commission (ERC) is seeking applicants for the pool director position at Eureka Aquatic Park. During their routine monthly meeting, last Wednesday, Feb. 28, ERC Chairman Austin Evenson shared that current Director Laura Neill had expressed she would no longer be serving in that capacity. The ERC has opened the position and is accepting applications through March 15. See related ad on page 6 for more information.
Starting salary will begin at $6,000.
As members reviewed the minutes from their January meeting, they realized a motion was made to increase ERC’s Director pay by 10% or $2,500. However, 10% would have been $2,750. Following the approval of the minutes, the board made a motion to clarify the motion last month as it was intended for ERC Director Derek Larcom to receive a $2,500 annual pay increase.
During his report, Director Larcom noted that 17 students participated in the foosball tournament. He also shared that winter sports are winding down and participation forms for spring sports (soccer and track) had been distributed with approximately 50 signing up for elementary track (grades 3-6) and nearly 100 students signing up for soccer (grades pre-k – 6). The ERC plans to provide shirts for those participating in track with those participating in soccer wearing ERC jerseys.
ERC member Leonard Moore was absent from the February meeting. The ERC meets monthly on the last Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m., at the ERC Garage.
The next meeting of the ERC will be held on Wednesday, March 27, at 6 p.m.
