Large Fire At C&G Drilling Last Week

On Friday, Feb. 23, multiple crews were paged to C&G Drilling for a large fire that had begun in their shop yard, at R50 and 140th Street, approximately two miles northeast of Eureka.

The fire was contained to the shop yard, however, several vehicles, trailers and pieces of equipment were destroyed in the blaze.

According to Greenwood County Fire Chief Glen Collinge, the fire was accidentally started by sparks as C&G Drilling personnel were working in the shop yard.

The fire was brought under control by area crews at approximately 8 p.m. last Friday night. No injuries were reported. A cost estimate of damages from the fire was unavailable at the time of publication.

Fire crews assisting with the blaze included Eureka Fire Department and Greenwood County Fire Divisions: Central, Neal and Eureka Lake. Greenwood County Road and Bridge, Greenwood County EMS and Greenwood County Sheriff’s Deputies also responded.
