Elk County Wrestlers Competed At Fredonia Open/Novice/Girls Tournament

A total of 18 Elk County Wrestling (ECW) club members claimed hardware at the Fredonia Open/Novice/Girls tournament on Sunday, Feb. 18.

A total of 18 Elk County Wrestling (ECW) club members claimed hardware at the Fredonia Open/Novice/Girls tournament on Sunday, Feb. 18.

Claiming first place honors were ECW’s Axl Ellsbury, Hendrix Ellsbury, Pyper Ford, Maverick Ford, Kyler Wunderlich and Flint Pope. Emma Baumgartel, Raylan Wunderlich, Riggin McGee, Autumn Love and Elwood Benson were named Runners- Up. ECW’s Kash Bidwell placed 3rd. Lakin Love, Rachael Benson, Kyptyn McTaggart and Tristen Mast placed 4th and Kinzie Church and Jayce Baumgartel placed 5th.

The following were individual match wins for ECW participants:

6U Girls 40-45: Axl Ellsbury placed 1st. She won by forfeit over Angel Patry (Independence Wrestling Club); won by fall over Oakley Arnold (Independence Wrestling Club) (Fall 1:32); and won by fall over Lux Willhite (Bluestem Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:11).

6U Girls 50-60: Hendrix Ellsbury placed 1st. She won by fall over Chevy Andrews (Fredonia Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:21); and won by fall over Everleigh Soper (El Dorado Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:27).

6U Boys 37-40: Jayce Baumgartel placed 5th.

6U Boys 43-46: Flint Pope placed 1st. He won by fall over Canyon Lies (Bluestem Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:27); won by fall over Ezra Lewis (Neodesha Wrestling Club) (Fall 1:25); won a 10-8 decision in sudden victory - 1 over Brydger Brown (Bluestem Wrestling Club); and won a 10-8 decision in sudden victory - 1 over Callum Marrs (Bluestem Wrestling Club).

6U Boys 61-64: Kyptyn McTaggart placed 4th. He won by fall over Ryan Hill (Neodesha Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:52).

6U Boys 61-64: Elwood Benson placed 2nd. He won by fall over Ryan Hill (Neodesha Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:18); won by fall over Kyptyn McTaggart (Elk County Wrestling) (Fall 0:40); and won by fall over Deklin Allen (Fredonia Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:55).

8U Boys Open 76-80: Tristen Mast placed 4th. He won a 6-2 decision over Zayden Lewis (Independence Wrestling Club).

10U Girls 65-70: Autumn Love placed 2nd. She won a 13-0 major decision over Cooper Feist (Bluestem Wrestling Club).

10U Girls 100-110: Pyper Ford placed 1st. She won by fall over Sophie Burt (El Dorado Wrestling Club) (Fall 1:21); and won by fall over Sophie Burt (El Dorado Wrestling Club) (Fall 1:43).

10U Boys Novice 64-70: Maverick Ford placed 1st. He won a 12-4 major decision over Austen Hunter (Independence Wrestling Club); won by fall over Alex Watts (El Dorado Wrestling Club) (Fall 1:02); and won a 12-0 major decision over Jamison Howard (Caney Valley Wrestling).

10U Boys Novice 76-79: Riggin McGee placed 2nd. He won by fall over Mason Bernd (Fredonia Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:45).

10U Boys Open 79-82: Kash Bidwell placed 3rd. He won a 16-5 major decision over Kashten Barrett (El Dorado Wrestling Club).

10U Boys Open 110-120: Raylan Wunderlich placed 2nd. He won a 6-0 decision over Hudson Ratzlaff (Fredonia Wrestling Club); and won by fall over Bentley Strange (Independence Wrestling Club) (Fall 2:51).

10U Boys Open HWT: Kyler Wunderlich placed 1st. He won by fall over Garrett Pendleton (Neodesha Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:48); won by fall over Rayuell Porter (Team of Hard Knox) (Fall 0:53); and won by fall over Blaize Bearden (Neodesha Wrestling Club) (Fall 2:27).

12-14 Girls 90-100: Lakin Love placed 4th. She won by fall over Kinzie Church (Elk County Wrestling) (Fall 3:45).

12-14 Girls 90-100: Emma Baumgartel placed 2nd. She won by fall over Lakin Love (Elk County Wrestling) (Fall 2:52); won a 15-0 tech fall over Kinzie Church (Elk County Wrestling); and won a 4-0 decision over Sadie Vice (Bluestem Wrestling Club).

12-14 Girls 90-100: Kinzie Church placed 5th.

12-14 Girls 110-120: Rachael Benson placed 4th. She won by fall over Madyson Jay (Independence Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:51).

Also representing ECW was Konlee Bidwell, 6U Boys 52.
