The West Elk Patriots hosted CedarVale/Dexter last Friday where the Patriots walked away with both wins.
In the boys game, the Patriots took the edge in the first quarter leading after the first 15-11. Despite being outscored in the second, 10-11, West Elk maintained the lead. Both teams would score 9 points in the third but West Elk held on to the lead, 34-31. The Patriots made 6 of 8 from the charity stripe and were able to claim the victory, 44-39. Scoring for the West Elk were Martin Shipley 15, Maddex Moreno 10, Garett Usry 8, Kase Kill 7 and Uriah Tillapaugh 4.
The Lady Patriots claimed a 53-27 victory over CedarVale. Additional details were unavailable at the time of publication. Up Next
The Patriots will begin Sub-State action next week. West Elk will be competing in the Cherokee- Southeast Sub-State. Brackets will be posted on Wednesday of this week. The Lady Patriots will play on Monday, with the boys taking to the court on Tuesday of next week.
