Top Hand Youth Rodeo Association Held Seventh And Eighth Rodeo This Past Weekend

The seventh and eighth rodeos of the Top Hand Youth Rodeo Association (THYRA) series were held September 9 and 10 at the Eureka Saddle Club Arena. Over 70 youth from southeast Kansas competed in various rodeo events including roping, chute dogging, rough stock and timed events.

The seventh and eighth rodeos of the Top Hand Youth Rodeo Association (THYRA) series were held September 9 and 10 at the Eureka Saddle Club Arena. Over 70 youth from southeast Kansas competed in various rodeo events including roping, chute dogging, rough stock and timed events.

All Around winners for the weekend were: 6&Under: Levi Alcorn Cedar Vale; and Kodi Barnett - Iola.

7-9: Huxley Flitz Towanda; and Mayley Decker - Eureka.

10-14: Lane Moore Winfield; and Shaelyn Stueve - Durham.

15-18: Kent Berkenmeier - Maple Hill; and Fallon Bracken - Peru.

This weekend THYRA families had a food drive and collected items to donate to the Eureka Community Food Bank.

The final rodeo weekend of THYRA for 2023 will be September 30 - October 1 with a Finals Award Banquet and meal following the October 1 Finals rodeo.

At the banquet, custom made saddles and belt buckles as well as other prizes will be awarded to All-Around Year End and Finals winners as well as Event leaders.
