I wonder how many people nearly had a heart attack watching the game Sunday evening? Man, it was a good one. I had sore muscles this Monday morning from clenching and unclenching during the last few minutes of the game.

I know we all like a close game, it makes it more exciting; but, that was almost too much excitement. Better than a lopsided game though.

How many people call in sick the Monday after the Superbowl?

We offer our sympathy to all who lost loved ones this past week. May they rest in peace.

Hello to all in area nursing and assisted living facilities. Hello also to all in area hospitals and rehab centers!

There was a fair sized turnout for the Toronto United Methodist Church’s soup supper that was held Saturday evening. Chili and vegetable soup was on the menu, as well as nachos and many different types of pie, cake and cookies.

The highlight of the evening was the performance by Jeff Davidson. Pictured at right, Davidson told stories and sang songs, as well as whistled tunes. How long has it been since you’ve heard someone whistle part of a song?

Saturday he entertained all with his original music. One song he sang about old horses and kids, brought back memories for me of when they used to have rodeos and shodeos east of town.

Someone, I never knew who, had a little pony they’d saddle up and turn loose and the pony would walk around the outside of the arena and look for kids to give a ride to. He would pick them up and circle the arena and bring them back where he found them and pick up another kid.

Davidson’s song was about a horse taking care of kids. He is a wonderful entertainer and his songs are very relatable.

Answer: 1.5 million people call in sick to work the Monday after the Super Bowl. Were you one of the million +?

Girl Scout cookies will be available Saturday, Feb. 17, at 1 p.m. in front of where Arnett’s cafe was. The Toronto Booster Club is hosting a “crockpot cook-off” Saturday evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Gym. Bring a crockpot full of your favorite soup as well as the recipe neatly written on a card and join the fun.

This sounds like fun. My only problem is I don’t have any written recipes for my favorite soups. I know I am not the only one who cooks without recipes! I have many cookbooks and when I make something new I follow the recipe the first time, then just use it as a guideline.

Many of my cookbooks are compiled by churches or some other kind of organization. The good ole tried and true recipes that don't have fancy ingredients. I have several from the different states and am trying to get one from each state.
