The Eureka High School boys lost two games to begin the week, at Fredonia on Monday and against Council Grove at home on Tuesday. Both games were much the same story as previous Tornado efforts: poor shooting combined with early turnovers led to large first half deficits that the Tornadoes were unable to overcome.
The Tornadoes actually began the game against Fredonia, who had beaten them by two points a week earlier, down by only 2. However, the second quarter shooting slump hit once again and the Tornadoes just couldn’t find the bucket. The shooting woes continued in the third frame, adding to the deficit and initiating a running clock for the fourth quarter. Against Council Grove, however, even the first quarter was unkind to the Tornadoes as they scored only six points and surrendered 15 to the visitors.
Junior Laken Valentine led the Tornadoes with 12 points against the Yellowjackets. Sophomore T. J. Mills had 7, senior Lyle Perrier had 3 and senior Cole Adkins, senior Jace Nixon, and sophomore Tyson Coon added 2 each to round out the scoring against Fredonia.
Against the Braves, Perrier led the scoring for the Tornadoes with 17 points. Nixon had 9, Valentine had 3, and Mills and Coon added 2 each.
