Mayor Richard Clark called the Jan. 15 meeting of the Howard City Council to order at 7:30 p.m. with council members Martin Hunter, Jerrad Pope, Derek Cookson, Gary Harrod present. Also present was Joanna Hunter.
Motion by Cookson, seconded by Harrod to approve minutes of the Jan. 2 meeting. Carried 4-0.
Motion by Harrod, seconded by Cookson to approve the payment of City bills $1,886.97. Carried 4-0.
Motion by Harrod, seconded by Cookson to approve 2023 City bill payments of $3,945.58. Carried 4-0 Motion by M. Hunter, seconded by Harrod to approve changing city phone services to Twin Valley. Approved 4-0.
Motion by Harrod, seconded by M. Hunter to appoint Kevin Mitchell as 2024 KRWA voting delegate and J. Hunter as alternate. Carried 4-0.
Motion by Pope, seconded by M. Hunter to approve Mitchell attend KDHE cybersecurity workshop. Carried 4-0 Other discussion: 1987 water agreementletter being sent; Open councilmember position; Security cameras; City park boundaries; Dog Pound passed inspection; Lake toilets; Generator needs for Cox Building and for City Office/Fire station; City resident water leaks; Council member will check on vehicle for CDL testing; City will continue to look for a qualified code enforcement officer.
Motion by M. Hunter, seconded by Pope to adjourn. Carried 4-0 meeting adjourned at 8:03 p.m.
The council also met on Feb. 5. Their next scheduled meeting will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 7:30 p.m., at City Hall.
