After being stopped for a traffic infraction on US Highway 400, by a Greenwood County deputy, Tyler Goodwin who was driving a Chrysler 300, took off and attempted to elude officers.

According to the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Office, Goodwin fled from the traffic stop after the deputy observed methamphetamine sitting in plain view, and a high-speed chase ensued, reaching up to 120 miles per hour, at times. The chase spanned two counties, traveling through pastures, dirt roads and highways.

While traveling through pastures, the deputy’s vehicle struck something and the patrol vehicle was disabled. The Chrysler 300 continued northbound on K Road from 30th Street. Another deputy later gained visual on the suspect vehicle at the intersection of M50 Road and 100th Street. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle once again, however the vehicle failed to stop. Deputies pursued the vehicle onto US Highway 54 through the City of Eureka with speeds reaching approximately 110 miles per hour. Goodwin continued east and attempted to break check one of the deputies causing the deputy’s patrol vehicle to make contact with the suspect vehicle. The vehicle was finally stopped on US Highway 54 in Woodson County, after Goodwin, and passenger, Jordan Denny attempted to throw evidence from the vehicle. Denny and Goodwin, both of Derby, were arrested for multiple charges and will appear for first appearances on Tuesday of this week.
