Three Lady Tornadoes claimed hardware at the two-day Circle Tournament last Friday and Saturday. Lady Tornado seniors Lyndsey Escareno and Makyla Gore claimed second place and sophomore Harlie Owings placed third.
Tornado wrestlers begin post season action this week, as the Lady Tornado wrestling team will travel to Columbus on Saturday, Feb. 10 for the 4-1A Regional Tournament. Eureka boys will host a 3-1A Boys Regional Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 17. The top four wrestlers in each weight class will advance to the state contest, in Salina, Feb. 22-24.

125: Maela Neill (20-13) lost by fall to Taytum Reed (Lindsborg-Smoky Valley HS) 21-15 (Fall 4:18); won by fall over Kayla Rose (Haven HS) 6-15 (Fall 1:32); and lost by fall to Phoenix Probasco (Rose Hill HS) 23-12 (Fall 2:41).
140: Lyndsey Escareno (15-5) placed 2nd. She received a bye; won by fall over Kylin Perry (Frontenac HS) 28-15 (Fall 0:49); won by fall over Carly McAtee (Girard HS) 27-4 (Fall 3:19); and lost by fall to Kaydawn Haag (Ellis HS) 28-1 (Fall 2:49).
170: Makyla Gore (26-6) placed 2nd. She won by fall over Lily Hamel (Towanda- Circle HS) 13-15 (Fall 1:56); won by fall over Vivian Frakes (Douglass HS) 12-8 (Fall 0:35); won by fall over Brenah Cannon (Council Grove HS) 19-3 (Fall 1:22); and lost by fall to Taylor Plumley (Cherryvale HS) 29-2 (Fall 3:40).
190: Harlie Owings (2017) placed 3rd. She won by fall over Heidi Fairchild (McPherson HS) 9-15 (Fall 1:04); won by fall over Heaven Keen (Augusta HS) 4-24 (Fall 3:53); lost by fall to Layton Roberts (Douglass HS) 25-9 (Fall 2:39); lost a 3-5 decision to Kara Pope (Girard HS) 22-7; and won by fall over Regan Eilert (Hesston HS/ Moundridge HS) 12-8 (Fall 2:33).
