The Eureka High School boys basketball team played the Humboldt Cubs Tuesday night at home. They lost the game to the hot-shooting and state-ranked visitors 22-56. Once again, the Tornadoes could not find the basket consistently, hitting only three field goals on 24 attempts in the first half, and quickly fell behind.
The Tornadoes played reasonably well defensively but Humboldt’s height and athleticism proved to be too much. The local cagers were, however, able to hold the visitors below their season average, allowing the Cubs to convert on only 23 of 51 attempts. They opened the second half playing good defense and getting good shots, but once again converted only 22%, hitting on four field goals in 18 attempts. The Tornadoes once again committed 17 turnovers.
Junior Laken Valentine led the Tornadoes with 9 points, senior Lyle Perrier added 8, sophomore T. J. Mills and freshman Tyson Coon had 2 each and senior Jace Nixon had 1.
