Eight Tornado wrestlers traveled to Cherryvale last week for the annual Tri-Valley League Tournament, where Lady Tornado senior Lyndsey Escareno was named champion in the 140-pound class. Lady Tornadoes Maela Neill, Makyla Gore, Harlie Owings and Kadin Deshane placed second. Tornadoes Paiton Gravatt and Trayton Carl Biering placed third and Ethan Bauer placed fourth.
Following are individual match results for Eureka wrestlers: 125: Maela Neill (21-12) placed 2nd. She received a bye; won by fall over Eden Hill (Fredonia Girls) 10-9 (Fall 3:46); lost by fall to Zoey Kessler (Cherryvale Girls) 26-1 (Fall 0:46); and won by forfeit over Lillee Merryman (Caney Valley Girls) 5-7.
140: Lyndsey Escareno (15-4) placed 1st. She won by fall over Brooklyn Shields (Cherryvale Girls) 16-14 (Fall 1:28); and won by fall over Brooklyn Shields (Cherryvale Girls) 16-14 (Fall 1:55).
170: Makyla Gore (246) placed 2nd. She won by fall over Taylor Thibault (Caney Valley Girls) 4-7 (Fall 2:47); and lost by fall to Taylor Plumley (Cherryvale Girls) 25-2 (Fall 0:56).
190: Harlie Owings (1916) placed 2nd. She won by fall over Rylee Woods (Humboldt Girls) 11-9 (Fall 0:37); lost by fall to Onna Moreland (Caney Valley Girls) 13-1 (Fall 1:44); and won by fall over Olivia Saucedo (Cherryvale Girls) 12-16 (Fall 3:36).

113: Paiton Gravatt (011) placed 3rd. He lost by fall to Dagan Turner (Bluestem Boys) 22-9 (Fall 0:18); lost a 0-16 tech fall to Aiden Wilson (Erie Boys) 11-5 (TF-1.5 4:00); and received a bye.
150: Kadin Deshane (1014) placed 2nd. He won by fall over Karsyn Kaufman (Humboldt Boys) 2-8 (Fall 3:23); won by fall over Cole Beard (Bluestem Boys) 0-9 (Fall 1:52); and lost a 10-21 major decision to Dylan Kirkpatrick (Erie Boys) 14-1.
190: Trayton Carl Biering (5-7) placed 3rd. He received a bye; lost by fall to Mason Bruggman (Cherryvale Boys) 2-3 (Fall 1:31); won by fall over Ryan Reid (Fredonia Boys) 1-8 (Fall 2:06); and won by fall over Cash Tracy (Caney Valley Boys) 1-16 (Fall 0:46).

Eureka boys will host a 3-1A Boys Regional Tournament on Saturday, Feb. 17. The top four in each weight class will advance to the state tournament in Salina, on Feb. 22-4.
