The Eureka High School boys played the Caney Valley Bullpups Tuesday night at home. They lost the game to the hot-shooting visitors 31-64.
Once again, the Tornadoes could not find the basket consistently and quickly fell behind. The Tornadoes opened the game playing well defensively but Caney nailed six contested 3-point shots. The Tornadoes shot a woeful 25% from the field that quarter and Caney quickly pulled away. They played well in the second quarter and managed to match Caney’s scoring for the quarter.
They opened the second half playing good defense and getting good shots, but once again converted only 17%, hitting a miserable 2 of 12 from the field. Once again the Tornadoes matched the Bullpups in the fourth quarter, limiting them to 7 points. The Tornadoes committed 17 turnovers, most of which they committed in the first quarter when they were trying to run with the faster Caney squad.
Senior Lyle Perrier led the Tornadoes with 11 points, senior Jace Nixon had 10, junior Laken Valentine had 5, sophomore Cole Ptacek had 3 and junior Tanner Biering had 2.
