Toronto News

How many of you all have seen any eagles lately? We see them occasionally between Toronto and Yates Center and between Yates Center and Iola. We saw one coming home from Eureka the other day and nearly every time I go to Fredonia (which has been twice a week lately due to physical therapy) we see 2-3 on either the way down or back.

We’ve been noticing a lot of snow geese this year, there is always more than enough Canadian Geese, but I can’t recall seeing so many snow geese. And swans! I’ve actually seen some swans!

Hello to all in area nursing and assisted living facilities. Hello also to all in area hospitals and rehab centers.

We offer our sympathy to the family of Robert Town who passed away recently. We offer our sympathy to all others who lost loved ones this past week. May they all rest in peace.

I play online trivia games and get daily email trivia and I had one over the weekend that brought back memories. Remember the “Blue Light Special?” What store had the “Blue Light Special?”

A week ago when it was so cold, water lines were broken not only here in town but other towns as well. I was coming home and when I stopped at the stop sign on Main Street, I noticed some kids playing on the ice that had formed along the gutter around City Hall.

As I turned left to head home, the kids stopped what they were doing! I figure they thought this old woman was going to yell at them, but I smiled, waved and gave them a thumbs up and they went back to having fun.

It was cool watching one slide down the street (actually the gutter) and kept his balance sliding from Washington Street down to the front of City Hall! Then, I went up Main where Dyer’s used to be and there was a big patch of ice and three kids were playing there. It was great seeing the kids outside and having fun. I have no idea who any of the six kids were, but I was wishing I was young enough to join them.

Answer: Kmart! Remember them? I can remember running over to the light to see what was on sale and running back to Mom to let her know. Whether she ever bought anything during the Blue Light Special or not, I can’t remember.

The Chief’s are going to the Superbowl again and will be playing the 49ers. I hope it is a good game. Can’t wait!

The sun finally decided to show up. How many days did we go without seeing the sun? They said on the news the other night that it had been 10 days since they had seen the sun in Joplin, Mo.

Punky acted like she needed to go out Sunday about noon, so we went outside and when she felt the sun on her face she just stopped right there on the ramp and just layed down. So I sat down on the steps and we just enjoyed the sun for a few minutes. It was actually nice sitting outside in the sun.
