Hamilton And Madison To Crown Winter Royalty This Friday Following Basketball Games

This Friday, Feb. 2, Hamilton and Madison schools will crown winter royalty, following the boys’ basketball game against Northern Heights, in a non-league contest.

This Friday, Feb. 2, Hamilton and Madison schools will crown winter royalty, following the boys’ basketball game against Northern Heights, in a non-league contest.

A dance, sponsored by the Madison High School StuCo organization, will follow the crowning ceremony.

Both schools are participating in spirit week this week. Madison: Monday-“ Bundled Up;” Tuesday-“ Jersey Day;” Wednesday-“ Age Day,” seniors: senior citizens, juniors: adults, sophomores: kids; freshmen: babies; Thursday-“ Camo Day” and Friday-“Bulldog Pride.” Hamilton: Monochromatic Monday – wear the same color; Teacher Swap Tuesday – students dress like teachers, teachers dress like students; Senior Citizen Wednesday – dress like your favorite elderly person; Let’s Get Physical Thursday – wear your athletic gear.

Candidates for Madison are pictured, from left to right: for Queen: Lucie Celte, Avery Miller, Judy Luthi and Brooke Gaines; and back row, for King: Austin Griffith, Lane Darbro, Hayden Helm and Cohen Luthi. Crown bearers for this year’s event are Catalina Marquez and Thomas Schankie. Marquez is the daughter of Alberto Marquez and Karina Elias. Schankie is the sone of Kale and Mikayla Schankie.

Candidates for Hamilton are pictured below right, from left to right: for Queen: Kimber Hudson, Tisha Hershberger, Allie Ebberts and Candice Ashlock; and back row, for King: Koby Ashlock, Braden Jones and Jesse Schneider. Not pictured was Tristan Hutchinson. Crown bearers for this year’s event are Georgia Spillman and Dean Derryberry. Spillman is a kindergartner at Hamilton. She is the daughter of Hanna Beitz. Derryberry, a first grader at Hamilton, is the son of Donnie and Allison Derryberry.

(Courtesy photos) The following candidate information was provided by Hamilton USD 390: Tisha Hershberger of Toronto is a 16 year old junior at Hamilton High School. She is the daughter of Rex and Terri-Lynn Hershberger. She is the Ag Club Secretary and a member of Student Council. She is in the CNA program at Flinthills Technical College and upon graduation she plans to attend Butler Community College majoring in Agriscience.

Allie Ebberts of Hamilton is a 16 year old junior at Hamilton High School. She is the daughter of Deana and Kelly Ebberts. She is a member of Ag Club and SAFE. Upon graduation, she plans to attend Oklahoma State University for veterinary science and someday open her own animal rescue.

Candice Ashlock of Neal is a 16 year old junior at Hamilton High School. She is the daughter of Zevi and Jamie Ashlock. She is a member of Ag Club and is also on the volleyball, basketball and track teams. Upon graduation, she hopes to pursue a career in Radiology at Labette Community College.

Kimber Hudson of Hamilton is a 16 year old junior at Hamilton High School. She is the daughter of John and Tanya Hudson. She is the Vice President of Student Council, a member of Ag Club, she is also on the volleyball, cheer and track teams. Upon graduation, she would like to attend Washburn University or Emporia State University to become a NICU nurse.

Jesse Schneider of Hamilton is a 17 year old senior at Hamilton High School. He is the son of Boyd and Tracy Schneider. He is the Senior Class Secretary and a member of the football and track teams. After graduation, he plans to become a wildland firefighter.

Tristan Hutchinson of Eureka is a senior at Hamilton High School. He is the son of Joni Hutchinson and the late Michael Hutchinson. He is a member of Ag Club. After graduation, he plans to attend Butler Community College to get a degree in welding. He hopes to travel the world and eventually get into pipeline welding.

Braden Jones of Eureka is a 17 year old senior at Hamilton High School. He is the son of Renee and Jeffery Jones. Braden is the Student Council President. After graduation, he plans to get his Associate’s Degree from Flint Hills Technical College and continue his education at Pratt for lineman school. He would like to work for Evergy as a lineman.

Koby Ashlock of Quincy is a 17 year old junior at Hamilton High School. He is the son of Kody and Susan Ashlock. He is currently the treasurer of the Hamilton Ag Club. He currently attends Flint HIlls Technical College and is enrolled in the welding program. After graduation, he plans to get a job with his welding degree.
