Interview Held In Search For Hamilton City Superintendent

The Hamilton City Council held a special meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 23 to afford for consideration of the vacant Superintendent position and interview of an applicant.

The Hamilton City Council held a special meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 23 to afford for consideration of the vacant Superintendent position and interview of an applicant.

During preliminary discussion, the pressing need for getting the position filled was noted in relation to recent winter weather and road/ sidewalk conditions. It was shared during discussion that Mayor Dave Harris had attempted to salt sidewalks and Main Street as much as he could by hand. At this time, it was commented that there is currently nowhere to store the city truck indoors to prepare it in advance and hook up the salt spreader for winter weather.

Following this, members of the council present drafted a list of questions for the upcoming candidate interview.

After the interview with applicant Boyd Snyder, a 20-minute executive session was held for discussion, with Clerk Daphne Rayburn remaining. Five additional minutes were taken for the same subject, with the same people remaining. No action was taken following the session.

Mayor Harris concluded by sharing that no determination towards hiring or electing to not hire the candidate was being made at that time.

During the course of open meeting discussion last Tuesday evening, conversation also included marketing, with interest being expressed in exploring online advertising options while the city remains open for application submissions. Applications are still being accepted at the Hamilton City Office. This is a fulltime position with paid sick leave and vacation.

Councilman Charlie Schlotterbeck was absent from the meeting and Councilman Joe Beeman appeared via phone conference.

The next regular meeting of the Hamilton City Council will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.
