Fourteen members of the Eureka Wrestling Club (EWC) traveled to Chanute on Sunday, Jan. 28 for their annual tournament.
EWC’s Tate Scott, Lakyn McCoy and Jad Day all placed first. Brandon Cornett, Felix Neill, Oaklyn Smith and Kade Fisher placed second. Placing third fo EWC were Graham Bechtel and Tucker Williams. Elena McCoy, Adleigh Ray, Maddox Ring and Keon Jones all placed fourth and Xander Turner finished fifth.
Following are individual match wins for EWC participants:
8u Girls 80: Elena Mc-Coy placed 4th. She won by fall over Cassidy Rodriguez (Independence Wrestling Club) (Fall 1:16).
12u Boys 72-76 Open: Brandon Cornett placed 2nd. He won by fall over Miles Uttinger (Independence Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:52); and won by fall over Robert Cottrell-D`Esposito (Neodesha Wrestling Club) (Fall 1:30).
12u Boys 88 OpenA: Xander Turner placed 5th.
12u Boys 110 Open: Felix Neill placed 2nd. He won by forfeit over Jose F. Hernandez-Martinez (Iron Grapplers Wrestling Club); and won a 6-4 decision in sudden victory - 1 over Brogan Hutto (Columbus Wrestling Club).
12u Boys 115 Open: Tate Scott placed 1st. He won by fall over Derrick Walls (Chanute Wrestling Club) (Fall 1:02); won by fall over Braiden McDaniel (Kansas Thunderstruck Wrestling) (Fall 0:30); and won by fall over Bentley Edwards (Frontenac Youth Wrestling Club) (Fall 4:14).
12u Girls 100-110: Adleigh Ray placed 4th. She won by fall over Mylan Sterling (Humboldt Cub Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:26); and won a 14-0 major decision over Natalie Haley (Fort Scott Kids Wrestling Club).
12u Girls 130-140: Lakyn McCoy placed 1st. She won a 15-0 tech fall over Brecken Campbell (Pittsburg Wrestling Club); and won a 10-7 decision over Mersaydes Stout (Caney Valley Wrestling) (Dec 10-7) 6u Boys 49 OpenA: Maddox Ring placed 4th. He won an 8-7 decision over Myles Brady (Humboldt Cub Wrestling Club).
6u Boys 49 OpenB: Jad Day placed 1st. He won by fall over Bodie Forrester (Fredonia Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:24); won by fall over William Lieberman (Red Devil Wrestling Club) (Fall 1:29); and won an 11-0 major decision over Owen Cerne (Frontenac Youth Wrestling Club).
6u Boys 52 OpenB: Graham Bechtel placed 3rd. He won by fall over Kaven Kirk (C.K.W.C.) (Fall 0:21); won by fall over Crue Ermel (Humboldt Cub Wrestling Club) (Fall 2:28); and won an 11-7 decision over Konlee Bidwell (Elk County).
6u Boys 58-61: Tucker Williams placed 3rd. He won by fall over Ryan Hill (Neodesha Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:17); won a 10-9 decision over Tyson Ratzlaff (Fredonia Wrestling Club); and won by fall over Lincoln Casey (Frontenac Youth Wrestling Club) (Fall 0:30).
6u Boys 70 Open: Kade Fisher-Kirkpatrick placed 2nd. He won a 13-8 decision over Grady Ratzlaff (Fredonia Wrestling Club).
6u Girls 48-50: Oaklyn Smith placed 2nd. She won by fall over Charlize Blair (Frontenac Youth Wrestling Club) (Fall 1:11).
10u Boys 76 Open: Keon Jones placed 4th.
10u Boys 120 Open: Noah Everly-Burtin placed 5th.
