Eight Eureka Tornado high school wrestlers made the short trip to Leon last Tuesday, Jan. 16, for the Bluestem Jamboree. Three Tornadoes claimed top honors, one was named runner-up, three placed third and one placed fourth.
Following are the results for Eureka participants: Girls
140: Lyndsey Escareno (8-3) placed 1st. She won by fall over Taleah Morris (Oxford HS) 0-2 (Fall 1:32); and won by fall over Taleah Morris (Oxford HS) 0-2 (Fall 2:18).
190: Makyla Gore (16-5) placed 1st. She won by fall over Heaven Keen (Augusta HS) 3-7 (Fall 1:04); and won by fall over Heaven Keen (Augusta HS) 3-7 (Fall 3:16).
Boys
106A: Mason Hughes (9-16) placed 3rd. He lost by fall to Parker Hulvey (McPherson HS) 8-0 (Fall 3:18); won by fall over Asher Filbeck (Augusta HS) 9-5 (Fall 5:08); and lost by fall to Karsen Garner (Leon-Bluestem HS) 11-9 (Fall 1:42).
113: Paiton Gravatt (0-9) placed 4th. He lost a 0-12 major decision to Drake Defore (Leon-Bluestem HS) 4-1; lost a 2-7 decision to Jacob Otto (Augusta HS) 4-8; and lost a 0-12 decision to Kolyn Simon
(McPherson HS) 4-7.
150A: Kadin Deshane (5-9) placed 3rd. He lost by fall to Aiden Smith (McPherson HS) 10-2 (Fall 1:09); won by fall over Jeremy Elbert (McPherson HS) 5-7 (Fall 4:36); and lost by fall to Gabe Kohls (Augusta HS) 8-10 (Fall 0:41).
157A: Dalton Pool (9-12) placed 2nd. He won by fall over Johnathan Schroeder (Oxford HS) 0-2 (Fall 0:42); and lost a 0-9 major decision to Delaney Herrman (Leon-Bluestem HS) 7-2.
190A: Trayton Carl Biering (0-2) placed 3rd. He lost by fall to Colten Neal (Leon-Bluestem HS) 14-9 (Fall 1:35); and lost a 0-16 tech fall to Cole Mathes (Humboldt HS) 5-1 (TF1.5 3:30).
215B: Ethan Bauer (20) placed 1st. He won by fall over Dahzael Castillo (Oxford HS) 0-2 (Fall 1:45); and won by fall over Destry Snyder (McPherson HS) 4-6 (Fall 1:23).

Eureka Tornado wrestlers are scheduled to compete at Wichita South this Saturday, Jan. 27. Matches are slated to begin at 8 a.m. Eureka will then travel to Cherryvale on Jan. 30 for the TVL Tournament, at 3 p.m. The final regular season tournament will be at Circle on Feb. 2-3.
