Eureka Tornado Wrestlers Hosted 30th Annual Invitational

The Eureka Tornado High School wrestling team hosted their 30th annual invitational over the weekend. Several ranked and 2023 state placers competed at the annual event that was held in two gyms on Saturday, Jan. 20.

Six Tornado boy wrestlers went to the mats Saturday but were unable to claim hardware.

Following are the individual match results for Eureka participants: 106: Mason Hughes (9-18) lost a 1-4 decision to Harlan Blackburn (Rose Hill) 3-2; received a bye; and lost by fall to Trenton Grimm (Cherryvale) 11-11 (Fall 1:56).

113: Paiton Gravatt (0-11) lost by fall to Huck Seger (Caney Valley) 13-5 (Fall 1:35); and lost by fall to Wyatt Thompson (Clearwater) 11-13 (Fall 4:10).

150: Kadin Deshane (7-11) lost by fall to Brody Lindenman (Winfield) 19-10 (Fall 1:57); won by fall over Dallas Scott (Columbus) 9-14

(Fall 1:48); won by fall over Deacon Rozair (Rose Hill) 0-6 (Fall 4:40); and lost by fall to Tucker Noonan (Burlington) 17-12 (Fall 2:32).

157: Dalton Pool (9-14) lost a 0-9 major decision to Tucker Vesey (Field Kindley) 16-4; and lost by fall to Jace Wren (Caney Valley) 6-9 (Fall 3:59).

190: Trayton Carl Biering (1-4) won by fall over Charles Chance (Rossville) 2-16 (Fall 3:29); lost by fall

to Carter Green (Douglass) 25-2 (Fall 0:28); received a bye; and lost by fall to Gavin Bantam (Rose Hill) 3-5 (Fall 1:57).

215: Ethan Bauer (2-2) lost by fall to Barret Lietz (Rossville) 23-5 (Fall 1:11); and lost by fall to Gavin Bowman (Douglass) 12-10 (Fall 1:30).

Saturday, Jan. 27. Matches are slated to begin at 8 a.m. Eureka will then travel to Cherryvale on Jan. 30 for the TVL Boys Tournament, at 3 p.m. The final regular season tournament will be at Circle on Feb. 2-3. Eureka will also host the boys 3-1A Wrestling Regionals on Saturday, Feb. 17. The top four in each weight bracket will advance to the State Tournament in Salina, Feb. 22-24.
