The bi-monthly meeting of the Greenwood County 4-H Council was held on Jan. 15, at 6 p.m. via Zoom due to the extremely cold temperatures with 11 members, five leaders, one agent and one program assistant in attendance.

A representative from each 4-H club reported on the many activities that they took part in since the last council meeting.

For new business, members voted to volunteer to work the Flint Hills Classic concessions stand and to sell Kansas Maid Frozen Pastries for a fundraiser. Council members are planning to do more community service projects this year by challenging the clubs to collect various items throughout the year to bring to the meetings to be donated. Possible examples could be tissues and wipes in September for the school year and a coat drive in January. Agent Ben Sims reminded council members to have all club members start collecting aluminum cans to be turned in at the May meeting to be donated to raise funds for the Kansas Honor Flight. In announcements, Sims asked that all committees meet and be prepared to give a report at the March meeting.

The next meeting will be held March 4, at 7 p.m. at the Sauder Center in Madison. This will be a joint meeting with Lyon County 4-H Council.
